Notable characteristic of this department is Mechanical Engineering Association (MEA) established in 2002 which makes GIET engineering college Rajahmundry, a prominent institute among the best mechanical engineering colleges in Andhra Pradesh. It is actively involved in the academic and personal support-activities for the students like group discussions, quiz, seminars etc.,

This association members are known for outstanding performance in technical paper contests. Mr Lal, ONGC Asset Manager KG Project, Rajahmundry was very much impressed with the activities of MEA, and donated books to the department library.

Department of Mechanical Engineering strives to provide scope for all round development of the students and staff by engaging them in various activities such as:

APPLIED ROBOTIC CONTROL CENTER OF EXCELLENCE

The MOU was happened between APSSDC, European Center for Mechatronics APS GmbH, Aachen and GIET (A), Rjy. This engagement was aimed to skill the engineering graduates from the state of Andhra Pradesh in Mechatronics and Industrial Robotics. It was proposed to establish Indo-European Skilling Centers for Mechatronics and Industrial Robotics in 40 Engineering Colleges across the state of Andhra Pradesh. ECM has selected 11 Engineering Colleges initially in collaboration with APSSDC under pilot phase. This tie-up is to provide end to end skill training including assessment, certification and facilitating placements to the trained students. The robotics infrastructure established in the respective college henceforth called Applied Robotic Control Labs (ARC Labs).
